Overview: The $100,000 Fantasy Challenge ($100K) is a fantasy football game in which participants select NFL players and compete to score the most Fantasy Points based on the game play described below. The game is broken down into two parts, the Regular Season and the Playoff Round. Top participants that qualify during the Regular Season will compete in Playoff Round for $100,000 dollars. Those that do not qualify during the regular season can play in a separate consolation round where the prize is $5,000. The regular season will last Week 1 through Week 12 of the NFL Season. The playoff round will last Week 13 through Week 17 of the NFL Season. The consolation round will last Week 13 through Week 17 of the NFL Season. Prior to the start of the NFL season, the Game Administrator (NBCSports.com) will create the list of available players (the Pool). The Pool will consist of players on NFL rosters at that time. The Game Administrator will assign each player a $100K position. $100K Positions will not change once they have been assigned. During the NFL season players willplayers will be added at the discretion of the Game Administrator. It is anticipated that all players on NFL rosters will be available and when players are added to an NFL roster, they will be available for the next week. Participants will use the $100,000 Fantasy Challenge website to select their team. The $100,000 Fantasy Challenge website will take each user through a series of pages where they will select players at the $100K roster positions, as defined below. The participants will ???? their completed rosters on the website each week, which will qualify as an entry into the $100,000 Fantasy Challenge contest. Each $100K Team will complete a roster consisting of players from the following $100K Positions:
Quarterback 1 Quarterback 2 Running Back 1 Running Back 2 Wide Receiver 1 Wide Receiver 2 Wide Receiver 3 Tight End 1 Place Kicker 1 Defense/Special Team 1
BONUS POSITION (SNF Player) 1
The Bonus Position roster spot is called the Sunday Night Football Player (SNF Player). The SNF Player can be any player on one of the two teams playing in the Sunday night game broadcast on NBC. The SNF Player can be any $100K position, excluding Defense/Special Team. The SNF Player can be a player who has already been a starter for that team during the season. Points will be doubled for the Bonus Position. In the event that there is a week during the NFL where no Sunday night game is broadcast, the Game Administrator reserves the right to substitute another NFL game from that week as the BONUS POSITION game.
At each of the Quarterback, Running Back and Wide Receiver positions, participants MUST select different players and MUST select players that have not been selected before, even if they were not selected at that exact position. For example, if in week 1, a participant selects Terrell Owens in the Wide Receiver 1 position, she/he cannot select Terrell Owens in any position except the Bonus Position for the rest of the entire season.
All players on a roster are Starting Players (i.e. the statistics for all of the roster spots count). Each week of the NFL season, each $100K Team may select any player in the $100K Player Pool who has not been started by that team in any previous week. Once a team has started a player, that team cannot use that player again for the remainder of the $100K game in that year. For example, if during Week 1 a user selects Quarterback 1 to be Peyton Manning, they will not be able to use Peyton Manning as a Quarterback selection again during any other week of the Regular Season. The deadline to select players each week will be the scheduled start time of each NFL player’s game. For example, if an NFL player plays on Thursday night, in order to be selected for that week a team needs to select that player by the scheduled start of the game Thursday night. Once the scheduled start time has passed on Thursday night, that player cannot be selected nor can he be removed from the roster for that week (those players are LOCKED). As another example, NFL players playing Sunday night can be selected up until the scheduled start of the game Sunday night. Once the scheduled start time has passed on Sunday night, players in that game are locked and cannot be selected or removed from $100K Rosters for that week.
The SNF Player must be selected by the scheduled time the of the Sunday night game. If a participant does not select an SNF Player, they will receive no points for that $100K position. Scoring Method Points Rushing or Receiving TD 6 Passing TD 4 2 point conversion (rushing, receiving or passing) 2 PAT (kicking) 1 Field Goal (up to 39 yards) 3 Field Goal (40-49 yards) 4 Field Goal (50+ yards) 5 Every 1 yard Rushing .1 Every 1 yard Receiving .1 Every 1 yard Passing .05 Fumble Lost -2 Interception -2 Scoring Method Points TD (return TDs) 6 Safety 2 Interception 2 Fumble Recovery (change of possession) 2 Sack 1 Shutout 10 Total Points <= 9 7 Total Points <= 16 5 Total Points <= 21 3 Total Points <= 30 1 Total Points 31 or more 0
All players receive points regardless of the position they are playing on the field. For example, a running back receives points if he throws a TD pass.
Only Defensive Teams receive points for Defensive Teams/Special Teams scoring. For example, if a wide receiver plays defense and returns an interception for a TD he DOES NOT receives 6 points. The defensive team/special teams that he plays on receives the points. Note: Players will not score negative points for negative yardage totals. Total Points will be total team points and will not take into account which team was on the field. If the offensive team throws an interception that is returned for a TD, that is 6 points that counts as Total Points. There are too many circumstances that cannot be determined or explained to only calculate/count points against a defensive team. Total Points is the entire team’s performance: offense, defense and special teams. Official scoring changes may come in on the days after games are played. Each game is reviewed for accuracy and sometimes changes are made. These changes will be listed on the site for clarity. All statistics and standings will be updated using these official scoring changes when they do occur. Participants will be allowed to create, invite and join private groups. These private groups will allow participants to view standings and selections for those that are attached to a particular group. Some examples of groups that participants might create for themselves are family, friends, college friends, softball buddies, etc. These groups are for personal enjoyment only and have no bearing on the overall game. There are three ways to qualify: 1) Top 5,000 highest overall scoring players including ties, using the best 10 weeks of Regular Season. 2) Those that correctly pick the “Perfect Picks” in any of the 12 weeks of the Regular Season (capped at 100 qualifiers per week). 3) Top 10 highest scoring players for each local NBC affiliate, using the best 10 weeks of Regular Season, which did not qualify via option 1 or option 2 above.
When calculating an overall score for each team, each team’s best 10 weeks will be used. If a team plays all 12 weeks of the regular season, the team’s 2 lowest week totals will be discarded. This will allow teams to enter $100K after the first week of the season and still be competitive, and also it allows teams to miss a week or more and still be competitive. Each $100K Team will be assigned to a local television station (NBC affiliate) based on their television market as defined by the ZIP code the participant entered at the time of registration. Those in a zip code covered by two or more NBC affiliates will be asked to choose one. Participants will be able to see standings of each local station. The top 10 of $100K teams from each local station that did not already qualify through “Perfect Picks” or the season-long regular season contest will qualify. Independent of the season-long contest, each week participants will be allowed to select their perfect fantasy lineup.
The perfect picks lineup will consist of one player at the following positions: Quarterback Running Back Wide Receiver BONUS POSITION (SNF Player)
The goal is to select the highest fantasy-point scoring player at each of the above positions.
Each participant may use the same players each week or change them. Unlike the regular season game, there are no restrictions on who can be selected.
There will be a maximum of 100 participants each week that will be granted access to the Playoff Round via the Perfect Picks.
If the participant selects the highest fantasy point-scoring player at each position and there are less than 100 participants that selected the same lineup, they will automatically qualify for the Playoff Round.
If more than 100 participants select the perfect lineup for a particular week a tiebreaker will be used. Participants each week will be asked to fill in the home team score and away team score of the Sunday Night Football game. If more than 500 participants are able to select the Perfect Picks correctly than this series of tiebreakers will be used.
The following steps will be taken until the total number is equal or less than 100 participants: 1) Closest to Total Cumulative Score. (calculated as home team score + away team score) 2) Closest to Home Team Score 3) Closest to Away Team Score
If there are still more than 500 participants that are tied after above steps are taken, the earliest 500 entries that were ????ted for the Perfect Picks of that week will be taken.
Time of entry is determined when you last saved your perfect picks.
For example: If on September 7, 2007 11:00 AM you initially set your picks, but then ????ted changes on September 8, 2007 11:00 AM. The latter time (September 8, 2007 11:00 AM) would be defined as the user’s time of entry for the purposes of the tiebreaker. The Playoff Round will take place over the last five weeks of the NFL Season (Weeks 13-17). For the Playoff Round the game will reset and start over. All participants will have their scores set back to zero and all player restrictions lifted.
The rules for the Playoff Round will be exactly the same as the Regular Season.
In the Playoff Round, all five weeks will count. The lowest week(s) WILL NOT be dropped as they were in the regular season.
Each week participants will be asked to fill in the home team score, away team score of the Sunday Night Football game.
After the five-week Playoff Round, the highest fantasy point-scoring participant will be recognized as the champion and win the $100,000 dollar prize.
If there is a tie between two or more participants, a series of tiebreakers will be used. Participants during each week of the Playoff Round will be asked to fill in the home team score and away team score of the Sunday Night Football game. If there is a tie between two or more participants, a series of tiebreakers will be used
If there is still a tie after above steps are taken, the following tiebreakers will be applied.
The following steps will be taken until a sole winner is determined: 1) Closest to Total Cumulative Score. (Defined as Home Team Score + Away Team Score) 2) Closest to Home Team Score 3) Closest to Away Team Score
Week 17’s Sunday Night Football game will be used first. If still tied, the same steps will be applied to Week 16’s Sunday Night Football. If the tie cannot be broken the steps will be applied each previous week through week 13.
If there are still more than two participants that are tied after above steps are taken, the earliest entry in week 17 will be used. If still tied the earliest entry from week 16 will be used. The process will continue to go back one week at a time until tie is broken.
Time of entry is determined when you last saved your picks.
For example: If on September 7, 2007 11:00 AM you initially set your picks, but then ????ted changes on September 8, 2007 11:00 AM. The latter time (September 8, 2007 11:00 AM) would be defined as the user’s time of entry for the purposes of the tiebreaker. Those that don’t qualify for the Playoff Round can compete for a consolation grand prize of $5000.
The same rules as the Playoff Round apply. |
