This 3.11-gram copper-red coin is an example of one of the most popular coin mistakes in history. It consists of copper, tin, and zinc. These pennies were mistakenly struck in bronze in 1943. In the year 1947, a high school student found this coin in his pocket change. For the first time, this coin was sold in January 2019 by Heritage Auctions for $204,000. However, some reports state that, in 2013, Stack Bowers Galleries made $164,500 from another one of these bronze coins.
