增上果是說俱有因之果，是說在集起的四緣（因緣、所緣緣、等流緣和增上緣；參見14.1 集起）中，除前三緣之外的所有元素，都由或順或違或不障之功而為集起的增上因。此集起中的增上因是昔日所作的果。

Escalatory Fruit is fruit of aggregate-have. Among four types of factors in Aggregate Arousal (reason factor, objective factor, equal-stream factor, and escalatory factor, refer to section 14.1), excluding first three factors, all factors whatever are left, or yielding, or contradicting, or not hindering, are defined as Escalatory Reason. The Escalatory Reasons in Aggregate Arousal are fruits of past bodily orally and intentionally behaviors.

增上的因素就事而論有很多，但從勝處而言，只有22處。當知，增上緣即是這22處或22根。根是因義，增上義。這22根是（1）眼根、耳根、鼻根、舌根、身根、意根、（7）男根、女根、命根、（10）苦根、樂根、舍根、憂根、喜根；（15）信根、精進根、念根、定根、慧根；（20）未知當知根、已知根、俱知根。

There are innumerable escalatory factors with respect of affaires, but saying of victorious places, there are 22 places only. One should know, Escalatory Fruits are the 22 places or roots. Root means reason, escalation. The 22 roots are (1) eye root, ear root, nose root, tongue root, body root, intent root, (7) male root, female root, life root, (10) bitter root, laugh root, renunciation root, gloomy root, delight root, (15) faith root, diligence root, spell root, still root, gnostic root, (20) unknown-to-know root, known root, all-knowing all-seeing root.

一至六，眼耳等六根是十二生長處中的內六處，參見11.3節。

七至九，男根是男人的生殖器；女根是女性的生殖器。命根參見11.4.4.2節的不相應行法。

十至十四, 苦樂等是五受根，參見11.4.2節的受蘊。

十五至十九，信、念等是五善根，參見11.4.4.1.3的善法。

1-6, eye-root ear-root etc. are Six Inner Growth Places, refer to section 11.3.

7-9, Male Root is male genitalia. Female Root is female genitalia. Life Root refers to section 11.4.4.2 Noncorrelative Laws.

10-14, bitter, laugh, etc. five are Five receptance roots, refer to section 11.4.2 Receptance Node.

15-19, faith, spell, etc. five are Five Benevolent Roots, refer to section 11.4.4.1.3 Benevolent laws.

二十至二十二是三無漏根。未知當知根，就是不知、不懂四聖諦。已知根，就是已經知道了、懂得了四聖諦；這種人包括小乘教法的前三果聖人（參見15.2節小乘果）和大乘佛教的一地至七地菩薩（參見第15章道諦）。俱知根，就是無餘依涅槃（參見第15章），亦作無所有天，亦名常寂光天。俱知根，就是無意識的純淨部分，人人都有，但世間人的俱知根被客塵污染覆蓋，所以此說小乘佛教的阿羅漢和大乘佛教的八地至十地菩薩有（即正在發揮功能）俱知根。

20-23, the three are Three Non-defilement Roots. Unknown-to-Know root, is not understanding Four Cruxes. Known root, is have been knowing Four Cruxes; the kinds of people include first three fruits sages (refer to section 15.2) in Small Vehicle Buddhism, and first land to seventh land bodhisattvas (refer to chapter 16) in Great vehicle Buddhism. All-Knowing All-Seeing root is Non-Reliant Nirvana, alias Non-Objectively Have Sky, Constant Silent Sky. All-Knowing All-Seeing root is immaculate part of unconscious, everybody has, mundane being’s the root has been contaminated covered by dusts, therefore here says that Small-Vehicle-Buddhism’s Ararat, and Great-Vehicle-Buddhism’s first to seventh land bodhisattvas all have the root.

下面依據十善和十惡的增上果報來理解增上果

To comprehend the Escalatory Fruits according to the Ten Precepts’ escalatory phenomena

一、殺生業之增上果，能令田林生殖皆失其力，谷果欠收，貴物不現。反之不殺者，由慈悲心增上故，一切資產，得好結果。

Killing behaviors’ escalatory fruits, can make land and forest lose power to produce and multiply, grains and fruits are harvested less, expensive things don’t show up. On the contrary, not killing and saving lives, due to the escalatory power from sorrowful sympathetic heart, all capitals produce lovable fruits.

二、偷盜業之增上果，能使草樹谷稼生惡害蟲，霜雹為害，饑饉現災（如插圖11.6.5-35是十惡道的增上果）。同類之眾，或在一家，或在一郡，或在一國，無不被害。反之不偷盜者，一家一村、一郡一國，俱由其福力，感招利潤。註解：人觀察事物時，以自身作為默認尺度。壞人的世界裡壞人多；好人的世界裡壞人少。這是三惡道與三善道（即修羅趣、人趣、天趣）六個世界不同的原因。

Stealing behaviors’ escalatory fruits, can induce grasses trees and crops bear ferocious harmful pests (refer to illustration 11.6.5-35), can induce hails frosts and famine disasters. Crowds of similar disasters, in one family, in one village, in one province, and in one country, none isn’t harmed. On the contrary, people who don’t steal, one family, one village, one province, and one country, all are affected to induce favors and profits by the fortunate power.

三、邪淫業之增上果，能使國土招暴風雨之害，塵埃穢惡之毒。反之不邪淫者，不致感招天變。

Improper Sexual Conductions’ escalatory fruits can induce their country’s lands have hurricanes and floods, environments become filthy and poisonous. On the contrary, people who haven’t sexual misconducts, won’t induce ignominious climate changes.

四、妄語業之增上果，因其以卑劣之意，欺於他人故。此業種增上，能使外物感招污穢不淨，所有目的，恆致失望；言語失其信用，命令違背不行。反之不妄語者，萬事能通，無諸絕望。

Deceiving languages’ escalatory fruits, due to cheating intentionality, because of deceiving others, outer environments are maculate, dirty, sayings and languages lose their usages, orders are disobeyed, no reactions. On the contrary, people who don’t speak deceiving languages, everything goes smoothly, none such despair.

五、綺語業之增上果，由此雜穢語業增上力，能致官失其位，商失其利，一切草木叢林，滿生荊棘毒草。反之不綺語者，官商恆榮，山河宜適。

Floral languages’ escalatory fruits, due to the escalatory power of filthy languages, officers lose their jobs, merchants lose their profits, forests are full of thorny shrubs and trees. On the contrary, people who don’t speak floral languages, officers and merchants are always glamorous, mountains and rivers are adorable.

 六、惡口業之增上果，能致居住世界，瓦石沙礫，塵芥荊棘之惡物，充滿觸近，諸不自由。反之若不惡口者，諸得自由。

Malicious languages’ escalatory fruits can induce their dwelling environments are dusty and rocky, thorny shrubs and trees are close by. On the contrary, people who speak non-malicious languages, gain freedom.

七、兩舌業之增上果，由此離間語之增上力，能致大地高下不平，山陵丘墟突兀，道路嶮岨，谷稼不茂。反之不兩舌者，處處宜人。

Two-Tongue Karma’s escalatory fruits, due to the estranging languages, the escalatory power of sowing discord languages can induce lands are high and low, not flat, mountains are steep, roads are bumpy and full of dangers, crops and fruit trees aren’t prosperous. On the contrary, people who don’t have two-tongue, place and places are agreeable.

八、貪慾業之增上果，能使五穀欠收，財富短虧。反之，世道昌榮，山河壯麗，處事有餘且常遇貴人。

Greed’ escalatory fruits can let farmers and merchants have poor harvest, money and assets are always in shortage. On the contrary, the world is prosperous, mountains and rivers are magnificent, people have more than enough to afford, and often meet nobles.

九、嗔恚業之增上果，能使戰爭劇烈，兵甲不息，荊棘遍地，果木苦澀。反之，鄰里和睦，百業興隆；風調雨順，田園昌盛，山河宜人。

Irritation’s escalatory fruits can increase wars’ intensity, battles are everywhere succeeding, thorns lie pervasively, fruit-trees’ fruits are bitter.  On the contrary, neighbors are harmonious, industries are booming; climates are yielding, countryside is prosperous, and mountains and rivers are agreeable.

十、邪見業之增上果，由斷常二見，不信善惡報應，因果道理。由此邪見及邪教，令人間失其善心。此增上力，能致器世界，上妙色香美味皆失，五穀欠收。

Heresies’ escalatory fruits, because of not believing in four cruxes, denying bodily orally and intentionally behavioral effects, people will lose their benevolent hearts. Those can induce wonderful colors fragrances and tastes disappear, material worlds lose their beauty, farmers and merchants harvest poorly.
