联邦宪法为政府设立了三大部门：立法部门、行政部门、司法部门。

宪法第一章设立立法部门。跟据宪法解释，国会制定法律。国会（包括参议院、众议院）是美国政府的立法部门。

宪法第二章设立行政部门（执行部门）。行政部执行国会用过的人法律。行政部确保全体美国人民遵纪守法。总统是行政部门最高长官。副总统和国务院成员也属于行政部门。

宪法第三章设立司法部门，司法部门的最高司法权在最高法院。司法部门的责任之一是确认政府执法行为是否附和、遵循联邦宪法，这是一项非常非常重要的责任。

Article II of the Constitution establishes the executive branch.The executive branch enforces the laws that Congress passes. The executive branch makes sure all the people follow the laws of the United States. The president is the head of the executive branch. The vice president and members of the president’s cabinet are also part of the executive branch. Article III of the Constitution establishes the judicial branch. The judicial branch places the highest judicial power in the Supreme Court. One responsibility of the judicial branch is to decide if government laws and actions follow the Constitution. This is a very important responsibility.
