按：我几年前对英诗兴趣略大，也读一些诗词，也尝试自己写，满意的不多，作为习作，总是有益的。回头看看，觉得有趣和发噱。请给与积极的批评，而不是恶意的攻击为盼。

Her name, like my shadow, is part of me,

One day I wrote her name upon the beach,

but came the waves and washed it away,

again I wrote it with a second hand,

but came the tide, and made my pains his pray.

"Vain man", said she, " that doest in vain assay,

a mortal thing to immortalize,

for I myself shall decay like to this,

and also my name be wiped likewise,

"no so," said I , "let baser things devise,

to die in dust, but you shall live by fame,

my verse your virtues rare shall externalize,

and in the heaves write your glorious name.

Whereas death shall all the world subdue,

our love shall live, and later life renew.
