人总是要老的，到了七老八十的时候手抖嘴也抖，尤其是帕金森病的患者。例如邓小平接见戈尔巴乔夫的时候，手抖得连饺子都加不起来，这个时候，就能看出梅森瓷器中的防抖杯（Trembleuse Cup），是比较人性化的设计了。
顾名思义，Trembleuse 这个单词的字面意思是给手抖的人用的（for the trembling one），杯身放在镂空的固定托圈中，可以稳住杯子，即使手发抖也不会打翻。最开始是宫廷用具，后来被梅森、Sèvres 等欧洲名窑延续生产，既有实用性，也有很强的装饰性。常见在萨克森王室和法国凡尔赛宫。是喝热巧克力 、咖啡、或茶水的时候防止洒出，尤其是其双耳的设计，方便用双手端握，进一步防止打翻。特别适合年长的贵族女士或体弱者饮用。17–18 世纪欧洲流行饮用热巧克力（比咖啡更早进入宫廷）。热巧克力非常浓稠、昂贵，盛装器皿讲究。两侧的把手有些版本甚至带盖，保温并防止香气散失，是奢华身份的象征。
