        The Wind Ensemble is a band purely for classical music. It is the standard band, with each section contributing to the piece in its own way. Not only does that describe the band, but it also touches on the concert program.

        The Pennbrook springtime is full of the track, baseball, and music. It’s interesting because all kinds of concerts pretty much involve the entire school. Whether you play an instrument or don’t, one way or another, you are going to be listening to the band's play. I believe this is good to expose fellow students to music since not everyone has the same amount of opportunity to listen to music.

        The Wind Ensemble represents the classical section of the music in our school. Our program contains mostly classical pieces of art, as well as songs for a younger age group. However, this is the time that maturity begins to set into many students. For example, it isn’t required for the conductor to yell at a section to be quiet when another has the melody. Particularly in the piece Pavane, by Gabriel Fauré. The song demonstrates the subtlety and contrast held in music, only slightly differentiating melodies. It really is, probably, the most beautiful song I’ve played.

        A competitor to the Pavane for the most beautiful song in this performance would be Appalachian Morning, by Robert Sheldon. It sounds like a Civil War documentary, which I am completely fine with. By the way, I fully recommend listening to the songs I mention, because unless I say so, the music is amazing. For example, Appalachian Morning is truly a sunrise over a mountain ridge moment.

        I think that this year has shown maturity in bands. The eighth grade is pretty much when those who want to quit because of lacking skills quit, and talented students indeed grow serious. I also think, from a musical perspective, that a player becomes open to his or her surroundings. No longer do saxophones play as loud as they can, or trombones point their bells at the stand. Along with these changes, they open their ears. As a musician, hearing is an underrated skill. Essentially, hearing is what a musician plays for. However, the players also need to listen to how their sounds as wells as their spots in the ensemble. The idea is to get out of the way when you’re not important and seize the moment when you are.

        Finally, the eighth grade is a confidence builder for players. By now, you don’t have a buddy to lean onto most of the time, so when it’s your cue, go for it. And I think this was personally the greatest improvement for me. In-band, I used to be hesitant, as well as scared to make a mistake. I still am worried to screw up, but no longer afraid to hide it. I lay on mental cues, no uncertainty involved. That’s how, I think, a player improves. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes.

        管乐队纯粹演奏古典音乐，可以说非常正统，各个器乐部分扮演不同角色，不仅恰好表明乐队性质，而且在节目编排上也体现这种吹奏组合。

        宾溪初中春季开展田径、棒球、音乐等项活动，大大小小的音乐会纷至沓来，学校生活因之而多姿多彩，无论你是否参与表演，器乐声不绝于耳，同学们身临其境感受音乐熏陶，毕竟并不是所有人都有相同的机会欣赏音乐。

        本校管乐队展现音乐传统元素，节目主要选自古典艺术作品，外加年轻人喜欢的歌曲，好在眼下正值许多学生开始走向成熟阶段，指挥不必在旋律进行的地方大声提示把音量放低，特别当演奏加布里埃尔·佛瑞《帕凡舞曲》时，要反映出音乐的典雅风格及对比效果，其中旋律变化非常细微，这首乐曲大概是我演奏过的杰作中最动听的。

        还有一首可以与《帕凡舞曲》相媲美的作品就是罗伯特·谢尔登创作的《阿帕拉契亚山的早晨》，它听起来像战争纪录片，本人根本不在乎什么题材。顺便说一下，我真心为大家举荐前面所提到的几首曲子，要不是因为悦耳，我何苦多费口舌，举例来说，《阿帕拉契亚山的早晨》真实描绘出山间日出时一幅美景。

        我觉得今年管乐队趋于成熟。初中三年级演技水平相当可观，瞎起哄的混仔早已甩手不干，动真格的演员进步显著。本人还认为，从音乐角度来说，大伙开始讲究人为因素，萨克斯管不再是吹得越响越好，长号拉管避免动不动就碰到谱架。有了这些变化，演员们竖起耳朵，不过作为音乐家，并非人人都把听觉当回事，而视听能力毕竟是音乐家应有的基本素质，况且演员在合奏中需要听清自己的声音拿捏彼此契合程度，目的在于不需表现的地方要及时收手，当进入高潮时必须切入得当。

        初中三年级终于树立起演奏信心。时值今日，大多数场合下你身边没有朋友陪伴，因此该做什么就干什么，这正是我个人最大的收获。以往我在乐队总是磨磨唧唧唯恐出糗，眼下我依旧担心捅漏子，只是不再害怕露怯，把手指踏踏实实地放在键钮上，我觉得演员的成长无异于不怕犯错。
