A British concert pianist has suffered serious health problems shortly after receiving his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Philip Leslie, 27, got the shot on Friday, December 10th and immediately experienced chest pains. He was admitted to hospital the next day and diagnosed with heart inflammation and blood clots.
His father, Michael, shared the shocking news in a Twitter post.
The diagnosis of heart problems and clots is likely to halt Philip’s career for a significant amount of time. He may never return to the stage again if he has to undergo surgery to remove the blood clots.
Philip has performed in venues such as Steinway Hall, Reid Concert Hall, St John’s Smith Square & St Martin in the Fields he has been described as a musician who plays with “vigour and excitement”.
The 27-year-old has studied with well-known pianists, including Philip Fowke, Martino Tirimo, Peter Tuite & Margaret Fingerhut. He made his debut at the Southbank Centre in January 2019 where he performed works by Knussen & Boulez.
He recently won the 2nd Prize at the prestigious Liszt International Piano Society Competition.
