        Is there no change of death in paradise?

        Does ripe fruit never fall? Or do the boughs

        Hang always heavy in that perfect sky,

        Unchanging, yet so like our perishing earth,

        With rivers like our own that seek for seas

        They never find, the same receding shores

        That never touch with inarticulate pang?

        Why set the pear upon those river-banks

        Or spice the shores with odors of the plum?

        Alas, that they should wear our colors there,

        The silken weavings of our afternoons,

        And pick the strings of our insipid lutes!

        Death is the mother of beauty, mystical,

        Within whose burning bosom we devise

        Our earthly mothers waiting, sleeplessly.

            難道天堂里萬物無生無滅？

            莫非成熟的果實從不墜落？否則樹枝

            總是沉甸甸地懸掛在那完美的蒼穹中，

            亙古未變，而又酷似我們迭興的塵世，

            宛若我們的河流奔注大海

            卻永遠無法到達，仿佛漸遠的兩岸

            怎麼說都難以匯合？

            何必沿岸再獻上梨兒

            只不過讓李子香飄滿地？

            哎呀，在那裡它們該穿我們的衣裳，

            我們午後的絲綢綾羅，

            並彈奏我們乏味的琴弦！

            死亡是美麗之母，神秘莫測，

            我們終將歸返她那愛心洋溢的懷抱猶如

            慈母書夜無眠的等待。

【注】離賓州巨人山村好市多(Costco in Montgomeryville)倉儲量販店不遠的購物中心新開張了一家大型自助餐，主要提供中、日式料理，看上去跟三年多前因新冠疫情而關閉的大洋港日式海鮮自助廳(Minado Japanese Seafood Buffet Restaurant)布局雷同，吃起來與鐵板燒自助餐(Hibachi Buffet)味道相似，不過打點周六午餐的迫切心境早已把長膘的負疚感置之度外，再說生活本身當該擁抱自己忽悠情懷，將過往的抱憾付諸於現實，眼裡種着太陽，臉上長着美景，心中住着滋潤。
