was still their King. People hate him because he's the King. They dont want him to tell them what to do. They hate him because they think they can run their own lives.

They take it one step further. They also hate his servants. They hate the people who dont hate the King. Just look at the apostles and early Chrisians. Jesus' enemies weren't satisfied when they killed him. They attacked thos who loved and served him.
