1. in the land of UZ, there lived a man whose name was
Job, he was blamless and upright, he feared God
and shunned evil.

2. he had seven sons and three daughters,
3 and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand
camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred
donkeys. he had a large number of servants, he was
the greatest man among the people of the East.

4. his sons take turns holding feasts in their houses,
he would invite their sisters to eat and drink with them.
5. when a period of feasting has run a course, Job send and purified
them, early in the morning he would sacrificed burn offering for
each of them. thinking "perhapes they have sinned and cursed God
in their hearts."


6 one day the angels came and present themselves before
the Lord. Satan also came with them.

7 THE LorD said to Satan, "where have you come from",
Satan answered, 'From roaming through the earth and going back
and forth in it.

8. the Lord said, "Have you considered my servant Job, no one
on earth like him. he is blameless and upright, he fears God and shun evil.


9. Does he fear God for nothing, have you not put a hedge around him
and his household and every he has? you have blessed the work of his
hands, and his flocks and herds are spread through the earth"


10 Stretch out your hands and strike him, he will surely curse you
on your face.

11. Then the Lord said, "very well', everything he has is in your hand,
but on himself don't lay a finger.

12. Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
