jael:have clothed yourselves with Christ. jael: Isaiah 59:2But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. (2) Does God listen to a believer's prayer? Of course, as long as he prays, again, in faith? What happens when a believer prays without faith? God will not listen! The bible is clear about this. Thus, God can listen to both unbelievers and believers (you are right on this part), as long as they pray in faith (your pastor was right on this faith prerequisite). But you forgot the faith condition. He forgot that an unbeliever could also begin to pray in faith, which God would gladly listen. He also forgot that a believer's praye would not be taken if any such prayer is not of faith. When a nonbeliever (the moment prior to exercising his God-given faith) prays to God in faith (the very moment of exercising his God-given faith), he turns himself 180 degree and become a new believer in faith. When a believer (who generally exercise his God-given faith after the intial conversion) prays to God in poor faith or even momentary lack of faith, he is momentarily displeased by God for he behaves as if he is like an nonbeliever. Thankfully a believer will never dwell in this faith-lacking status for too long, otherwise he will NOT be saved (remember our discussion earlier on this continuing faith leading to salvation). Again that is due to the grace of God. That is what we call from faith to faith. A believer will continue in faith, despite spotty momentary lack of it during his life's journey. Faith is not necessarily a gift that is dished out little by little by God. I personally believe that God has already given everyone the faith capacity to exercise their will of obedience to God. It is up to them to respond to God's love with love in faith. That is prevenient grace per Armenianism. Thus, a nonbeliever can and should pray to God in faith upon the prompting from the holy spirit. Likewise, a believer can and indeed do reject the prompting of the holy spirit, grieving the holy spirit in the process and showing a lack of faith. childofgod: this is much clearer. the oq is mysterious only when one has ambiguous meanings of (some of) the keywords: prayer, non/believer, and God's-listening.
