What’s “breakout”?

Briefing: This is when a trend line is penetrated deep enough the line is qualified as broken. It is divided into two categories, top lines and bottom lines. The exact algorithm for determining how deep or how long of a time period the price bar has to penetrate the trend line is proprietary, but it is sufficient to say that it is based on the length, slope and the "average amplitude" of the trend line.
