30年歷史回頭看：廣州1978，一個美國人的"歷險記" 倍可親(????) I visited Guangzhou twice in 1978. The first time was in the Spring, when I went into China for the very first time. I was with my fellow American students from Taiwan. It was incredibly exciting to make it into China during these early days of the Open Door policy, especially for those of us coming from Taiwan. The next time was in December, when I went there with my parents and brother, who had rendezvous'ed with me in Hong Kong. This was one of the greatest trips our family had ever taken. The day we arrived in Guangzhou, the news broke that the U.S. and China were establishing normal diplomatic relations and that Deng Xiaoping would be visiting America. Everywhere we went, Chinese people were happy to tell us the news. It was also interesting that at this time, there were still some protest posters (大 字 報） on the walls of buildings, co-inciding with the Democracy Wall in Beijing. 我於1978年兩度訪問廣州.第一次是在春天,我和我的美國學生破天荒的首次從台灣來到了中國.在改革開放政策稍前來到中國,我們帶着一種難以置信的興奮,尤其是對我們這些來自台灣的美國人來說. 第二次是在12月,我和父母,兄弟在香港會合.這是當時我們全家人最棒的一次旅行,當我們來到廣州,有消息傳出,美國和中國即將建立正常外交關係,並認為鄧小平將訪問美國.我們到處去,無論我們去哪,中國人都很高興的告訴我們這個消息 . 與此同時也發生了很有意思的事情,一些反對此事的大 字 報也帖在了北京的街巷間.
