Now and yesterday When we learn the word yesterday, we might wonder why the day before today is called yesterday. I just learned that in German, now is jetzt, which is pronounced yest. This suggests a subtle relation between English and Germans. The words no and yes probably correspond to now and yesterday. Now is the negation of yesterday. No, now and new are probably related. No is newer than yes. |
