I am comparing two languages to see which one is better. But in your argument, the only point you are trying to make is that Chinese is not garbage. Chinese people will admit Chinese has serious problems only if I can prove that Chinese is garbage and ironically I just can’t. There are 1.3billion people using Hanzi on daily basis, how can I say Chinese is garbage.
I was told once by a biologist that genetically human beings are less than 3% difference from chimpanzees. I think you would agree that Hanzi and English has much bigger difference than human beings and Chimps. Don’t carelessly say that language is merely a tool for expressing. A tool for communication is already important enough to catch our attention, not to mention that language is also a conceptual carrier of our thinking.
Logic and reasoning comes from languages, and different language has different logics and reasonings. I do not know how bad Hanzi has to be for Chinese to change it, and I would not say something like Luxun: 漢字不滅中國必亡。But I do think that hanzi has been the major problem for Chinese society.
You do not have to take my words for it and you may check out books and find your own answers if you want.
