The teaching “己所不欲,勿施于人” is a good start for democracy.
"Don't do what you do not want others to to you." however is not a full prescription of democracy. It should be "Do what the majority agree to do." Clearly, China has never followed the Confucius teaching in its government system. It is interesting to observe that Confucius remains, and still remains, as a personal morality guide for all those years. |
