what timing? the christians have been actively seeking the conversion of the israel nation since the beginning of chrisitianity. most of the apostles preached to the jews, rather than to the gentiles, to the point that paul was in fact called "apostle to the gentiles". it's only in the recent years when christians are looking for all sort of excuses NOT to preach the gospel to the jews. the worst case of all is the roman catholic church. and for what? for being afraid of offending the fragile jewish self-esteem? for feeling guilty about persecuting the jews for thousands of years? who are we to deny them salvation that they deserve?
