這本片子拍完後，老安剪出個長達四小時的版本，之後又經其他剪接師剪2個半小時，可是好來污不接受，要求片長不能超過二小時，以便在米國發行，於是便出現了119分鐘版本，許多鏡頭被剪掉，1983年，Jack Nicholson跟電影公司商談，想買本片的底片，最終在1986年買到,到了九十年代，日本買了制DVD的牌照，不過日本版製作得不好，畫面偏黃，Jack Nicholson很不滿意，於2004年5月和Sony 一起出版新的DVD，據稱是來自保存得較好的底片，影像色彩較為平滑自然，光暗對比度更加清晰分明。現在借到的就是這個版本.
