这本片子拍完后，老安剪出个长达四小时的版本，之后又经其他剪接师剪2个半小时，可是好来污不接受，要求片长不能超过二小时，以便在米国发行，于是便出现了119分钟版本，许多镜头被剪掉，1983年，Jack Nicholson跟电影公司商谈，想买本片的底片，最终在1986年买到,到了九十年代，日本买了制DVD的牌照，不过日本版制作得不好，画面偏黄，Jack Nicholson很不满意，于2004年5月和Sony 一起出版新的DVD，据称是来自保存得较好的底片，影像色彩较为平滑自然，光暗对比度更加清晰分明。现在借到的就是这个版本.
