car, vehilce, ambulance, fire engine, truck, bus, 这些都是不同用途和功能的车，这些词不反映车这个共同点，也即没有抽象意义。中文里的这些词，包含的“车”字，把它们的共性抽象出来了。
These words have different origins which result in different
names. There is no question that car can be used in English
language to represent different types of cars by adding
attributes to the word car, like our Chinese.
Remember these different types of cars were
invented by English speaking people to serve
different functions.
We Chinese simply use them.
A similar example is we Chinese have so
many different phrases to describe our relationships with our
relatives (uncle, father, etc.), because in our history these
relationships played important roles.
As you can see, in English there are only a few.
Another similar situation is related to rice, we have
so many different phrases descriging for different forms
of rice (fan (steamed rice), gu, etc.), but you can't find
the corresponding English counterparts.
In English, on the other hand, there are many phrases
related to horse, while we Chinese don't have the
corresponding Chinese phrases.
