Dr. C. Y. Lo: Questions on your papers and some advice
送交者: secCNY 2007年08月13日00:00:00 于 [教育学术] 发送悄悄话

Dear Dr. Lo,

I write you to question your work on general relativity and offer you a few pieces of advice on how you interact with Professor Yang and others.

Although I do not have any interest in your work, I went through your papers last night as an extra "assignment". I almost immediately concluded that your claim that "there is no dynamic solution to Einstein equation" lacks least, necessary base:

(1) Your major reasoning is that the space-time coordinates are
ambiguous that makes gravitational wave very different from EMW, actually so different that you suppose wave solution does not exist. The difference between the two cases is well known and the nonlinearity of gravitation is also a common sense for the people in the field. From your papers, all you presented was a lot of words. You never solved the Einstein equation with an explicit model and never did numerical modeling. How could you reach such a conclusion? A mathemtically exact proof has to be given to back up your unusual claim, rather than a show of bravity.

(2) Contrary to your claim, the work of many mathematicians as well as theoretical physicists clearly shows that Einstein equation DOES have gravitational wave solutions. Compared to their work which is always substituted with exact mathematical derivation, physical argument and numerical calculation, your work just displays equations without real purpose.

(3) More and more observatinal data show that gavitational wave is the real thing. You're actually aware of them from your texts.

(4) Your modified Einstein equation contains an anti-gavity term. Again, there is no evidence, obervational or mathematical, to support its introdution. In addition, how can you be sure that your 'anti-gravity' term will bring gravitational solution since you assert that the original Einstein equation has no such a solution. Where is your proof? Not words, a math proof has to be shown.

(5) What is the physical or mathemtical argument that made you introduce the
'anti-gavity' term? Inspired by Einstein's cosmological constant?

(6) Both string theory and loop quantum theory reproduce Einstein equation perfectly well. In contrast, neither gives 'anti-gravity' term as your modified theory requires.

......

Well, hope you can work out all these questions. Otherwise, I do not think that Professor Yang or others would like to have any interaction with you. I suppose you understand that Professor Yang is a busy person and he always has many, really many, important things to do all the time. Actually, he has to skip some important things now and then. He is still the driving force of science in general and physics in particular. Many young and very well accomplished scientists just line up to see and talk with him everyday. More others have e-mail contact with him. I hope you can understand it very well. I'd also like to advise you that you should not post your letters to him on internet in the future. You may feel that's not a big deal, but as the No.1 living physicist in the world, he has tons of reason to mind.

Moreover, it is really not appropriate for you to tie yourself with late Professor Chou. It is not a gentleman's gesture for you to "set record straight" on behalf of Chou or his associates. You are not invited to play chivalry or seek justice.

Wish you a good day.

Yours Sincerely,

secCNY
