Over my dead body!”

1. “All thumbs”
It means you have five thumbs instead of four fingers and one thumb, in other words, you’re “clumsy” or “awkward”.

Examples:
When it comes to piano playing, I am all thumbs.
I’m no good at plumbing repairs, I’m all thumbs.

2. “Green thumb” and “Brown thumb
“Green thumb” =
“Brown thumb” =

Examples:
All the trees I planted have died. I have a brown thumb.
John has a lovely flower garden. He has a green thumb.

3. “Break a leg!”

Example:
I hear you’ll be defending your doctoral dissertation tomorrow. Go break a leg!

4. “A bone to pick”

Example:
I have a bone to pick with the conclusion of your article. It was based on invalid assumptions.

5. “Over my dead body!”

Example:

Michael’s wife:” Over my dead body!”

6. “Head over heels”

Example:
John has fallen head over heels for Mary. He has lost interest in his work.

7. “Pulling my leg”
Example:
My boss suggested that my English was good enough for public speaking, but I think he was just pulling my leg.

8. “Nose is out of joint”

Example:
Michelle’s nose is out of joint. She feels slighted because we did not consult her on the project.
