Bible is an old, good-written fiction. It does have symbolism to guide people for good deed. But whoever want to understand it, or interpret it wordly, is naive and childish. Like a child believing in tooth-fairy. But as adults, we should understand it in symbolic level, and know that it suppose to, like any other religion, guide people psychologically, through difficult phase of an individual's life.
